Mount Olympus or Mt Owen - Kahurangi National Park

Kahurangi National Park

Kahurangi National Park is the largest National Park in New Zealand and is well known the the films industry for films such as The Lord of the Rings (LOTR’s) and the Hobbit.

Our most popular locations are Mt Olympus and Mt Owen and are only accessible by licensed helicopter.  The flights takes you over stunning scenic back country and Kiwi farmland, native forests with extensive ongoing sea views.

Historically our region has the highest sunshine hours in the country and enjoyed for most of the year during June to October we are likely to have snow.

These epic wilderness locations are a perfect to wow the person you love for a proposal, elopement, micro wedding, renewal of vows, or to simply say “I Love You”

Mt Olympus

The intriguing weathered rocky outcrops on Mt Olympus inspired the scene from “South of Rivendell.” in the LOTR’s movie where they rested and cooked dinner, while the crebain crows of Saruman searched for the “One Ring” and found the travelers below.

Mt Owen

Mt Owen, at the southern end of the Kahurangi National Park, is where the Fellowship of the ring, were filmed escaping from the horrors of Moria.

The mountains provide panoramic views across Tasman and Golden Bay reaching out to the Abel Tasman National Park.  The inspiring rock forms and views make for an epic photo backdrop.

Due to this remote location, it is highly unlikely that we need to worry about exclusivity.

There are other private and national locations available within and close to the Kahurangi National Park, such as Takaka Hill, Ngarua Caves which will be a little kinder to your pocket.

These destinations will require helicopter transport, please contact us so we can discuss your options.
