The Abel Tasman National Park
Golden Sands & Crystal Waters
The Abel Tasman National Park may be New Zealand’s smallest national park, but it more than makes up for its size with breathtaking golden beaches, crystal-clear waters, and lush native forests. It’s a paradise for couples seeking an intimate elopement, micro wedding, or weddingmoon adventure.
One of our most sought-after ceremony and photography locations is the large sand spit at Adele Island, accessible only by private or licensed charter boat with a landing permit. Your journey begins in Kaiteriteri or Marahau and takes you along the park’s coastline, past ancient forests and sparkling bays, offering exclusive and unforgettable views. With our typically high sunshine hours, this location is a delight year-round.
The park offers a variety of ways to explore: kayak through hidden coves and caves, take a helicopter flight for panoramic views, or simply stroll along the golden sands and feel the tranquillity of nature surrounding you. A full-day charter allows you to soak in the experience, but even a four-hour adventure can create memories to last a lifetime.
For accommodations, there are charming lodges within the park. Many couples combine their ceremony with a weddingmoon experience, enjoying privacy, adventure, and relaxation all in one unforgettable day.
You will need to either find a D.O.C.-permitted provider to plan your day for you or do it yourself. However The Dream Maker Consultant service held the permits for many years and knows all you need to know and can provide advice to you on the best approach. You are permitted to book a celebrant and photographer without a permit if you book them directly.
